Honolulu Fire Department crews found a body floating off the Waianae coastline Sunday.
Police identify the body as a 44-year-old man visiting from Iowa. The man was scuba diving with his 13-year-old daughter near Kahe Point, authorities said.
The two got separated and the daughter swam to shore to call for help, officials said.
"This area is very popular for tourists as well as regular divers. There`s a lot of aquatic life. The porpoises like to go in. There`s easy access and easy out. It is an easy place for beginners and people a little more experienced," HFD Capt. Emmit Kane said.
The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
